Commitment ceremonies are the ideal option for those who can't, or don't want to enter into a legal binding relationship such as a marriage or civil partnership. They are the perfect way to show how much you mean to each other, without the formalities
What is a commitment ceremony?
A commitment ceremony is a non legal way to commit to your partner. Weddings and civil ceremonies have some wonderfully inclusive aspects which can be echoed within the sentiment of a commitment ceremony. Or it can be a completely different type of ceremony that is unique to you. I'm really open to your ideas, and I want you to have a ceremony that represents you as a couple.

Who is a commitment ceremony for?
There are many situations that couples might find themselves in that might suit a commitment ceremony rather than a legal wedding or civil partnership.

-
You want to start a non-legal commitment
-
You want to keep financial independence
-
You are legally married to someone else
-
You have a wedding venue booked, but can't get the legal side of a marriage or civil partnership sorted in time, but you still want to go ahead with the ceremony on the planned date
What's happens in a commitment ceremony?
The content of a commitment ceremony can be anything that suits you. It can include traditional aspects such as exchanging rings, throwing confetti, reading vows, readings etc, or it can be something that is uniquly you!

The whole purpose of a commitment ceremony, is to celebrate the love you have as a couple, and to share this with all your favourite people. How this looks for you is definitely open for discussion! You might choose a location that has significance for you. You may decide to read promises to each other, you may even decide to have songs for everyone to sing led by a professional singer (or any other ideas you have!).
The beauty of a commitment ceremony, is that nothing is decided, nothing is typical, and everything is possible.
Let's meet up
Time to meet for a coffee, or visit your venue to go through the finer details. This is when I'll get to know you both, and your story as a couple. This gives me everything I need to write a bespoke script for you.

Script and ceremony
Once I've written the script, I'll send you a draft and we can work on it together. After any revisions, the only thing left to do is to deliver the ceremony on your big day!!
